The Amprobe ECB50A circuit breaker finder and cable locator traces a wired connection between a circuit breaker and an outlet, locates energized cables and wires behind walls, and finds a specific wire in a bundle of wires. It is used in industrial and home applications where a circuit feeding an electrical outlet must be turned off or a wire or cable carrying alternating current must be located, repaired, or replaced. The unit comes with a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is fitted with a NEMA 5-15 plug and is plugged into an outlet to power the transmitter and to test the outlet. The receiver is held near the suspected path of a cable or wire to trace it. The transmitter emits a coded signal for accurate location of the circuit breaker, wire, or cable. The receiver has a liquid crystal display (LCD) that shows the coded signal when it locates the correct breaker, wire, or cable. A low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. The Amprobe ECB50A circuit breaker finder and cable locator meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010. The transmitter is certified for category III installations up to 300 volts (V) and the receiver is certified for category III installations up to 150V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations (such as service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building's AC power supply). The outlet provides power to the transmitter, and the receiver operates on one 9V battery (included).
